What does president Zelensky demand to change the Ukraine's foreign policy

Wednesday, 22 December 2021

Ukrainian ambassadors and the key MFA staff met in Carpathians at a meeting chaired by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

EuroPravda editor Sergiy Sydorenko has followed and analyzed demands voiced by Zelensky.

The 2021 meeting of top Ukrainian diplomats was the first full-fledged one during Zelensky's presidency. He have announced the criteria that become key for the ambassadors under his ruling.

The first criterion is speed. President demands Ukrainian diplomacy to become lively and dynamic.

The second criterion is creativity. Zelensky engages ambassadors "to offer new mechanisms and new formats every day". He also called not to stick the traditional policies, whatever it means.

The third criterion is ambition. According to the President, ambition goes not just a desire for more, but also an optimism in assessing the prospects of what can be achieved. Zelensky wants all diplomats to forget the phrases "it's impossible", "it won't happen" etc.

The fourth criterion is the achieved results in the economy, trade, investment and so on.

The fifth criterion is greater attention to the so-called "soft power" of Ukraine, cultural and public diplomacy.

All of this as well as the challenges raised at the meeting is in article "Don't Say "No" to Zelensky" (in Ukrainian).
