Kuleba to Danish MFA: Ukraine Deserves EU Candidate Status
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said to his Danish colleague Jeppe Kofod that Ukraine expects to be granted the EU candidate status.
"Spoke with my Danish counterpart and friend Jeppe Kofod. We discussed the upcoming summit of the European Council where Ukraine expects to be granted the well-deserved EU candidate status," tweeted Kuleba.
He also thanked Denmark for its support and Harpoon missiles.
As previously reported, two new opponents of Ukraine's EU candidate status have emerged recently. Denmark and Sweden have put a lot of effort into reforms in Ukraine, especially anti-corruption, and they have decided to set some conditions for the upcoming steps in Ukraine's accession.
Kuleba had talked on the phone with Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde the day before. He also stressed that Ukraine deserves to be granted the EU candidate status.
Ukraine expects to be granted the EU candidate status at the EU summit on June 23-24.
As sources claim, the EU has prepared a "positive" and "negative" decision on the EU candidate status for Ukraine.
