Three Western Balkan States Officially Supported Granting Ukraine Candidate Status
The leaders of Ukraine, Albania, Montenegro, and North Macedonia have stated their support of Ukraine's EU candidate status.
President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that after the meeting with the three prime ministers on Wednesday.
The prime ministers of Albania and Montenegro arrived in Kyiv in person, and the head of the government of North Macedonia was present online. Dimitar Kovačevski had to cancel his trip to Kyiv due to a scheduling conflict.
"I am grateful to Mr. Rama, I am grateful to Mr. Abazović, Mr. Kovačevski for a joint statement today in support of granting Ukraine candidate status," Volodymyr Zelensky stated.
"Our states must become full members of the European Union, and we agree that our states are not competitors on this European path. We complement and strengthen each other's capabilities," added Zelensky.
