Berlin Delighted with Counterattack of Armed Forces of Ukraine – Ambassador of Germany
Anka Feldhusen, the Ambassador of Germany in Ukraine stated that the official Berlin "was delighted" with the counterattack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the east and south.
"We all observed this in Berlin, and we were delighted with the counterattack of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the east and south," Feldhusen said in an interview with Radio NV.
At the same time, according to her, a discussion on possible supply of Western tanks to Ukraine is still going on in Berlin.
"This discussion is going on. You have heard our Chancellor many times, he said that he was in close contact with the partners - the USA, the UK, France - regarding this mathematics… There is no end to this discussion yet, but I hope that it will end successfully and positively for Ukraine," Feldhusen added.
German political parties, especially the ones that make a parliamentary coalition, demand that the government increase the support of Ukraine with weapons after the impressive success of Ukrainian forces in reclaiming territories in Kharkiv Oblast.
To this day, Chancellor Olaf Scholz who represents the Social Democratic Party of Germany stood against providing Ukraine with the Western tanks, indicating that even big NATO partners were not supplying tanks directly, and that Germany did not want to do it alone.
Earlier, the Welt outlet reported that Scholz had declined the request by Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal to supply additional heavy weapons, including Leopard 2 tanks, in particular.
