Germany plans to deliver two IRIS-T air defense systems to Ukraine by the end of this year, and two more in early 2023.

"I am very glad that we will hand over four systems. This will protect a large area of Ukraine. We have already heard that the first system will arrive this year. I suppose, the second one, too. The third and fourth later will be delivered at the beginning of the new year," Feldhusen said in an interview with Radio NV.

The Ambassador also stated that Berlin is delighted with the counterattack of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The IRIS-T surface launched anti-aircraft missile system is the latest medium-range air defense system. The operating range is up to 40 kilometers and the target detection range is 250 kilometers. With the help of IRIS-T SLM, it is possible to shoot down combat aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, jet artillery, drones, and anti-radar missiles.

In June, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said that the supply of air defense systems to Ukraine would take months.
