The day before, Ursula von der Leyen delivered the annual State of the Union address to the European Parliament, which focused on combatting the challenges posed by the Putin regime.
Von der Leyen stated that Putin would fail, and Ukraine and Europe would prevail.
She also said that the European Union would continue to support Ukraine and strengthen sanctions against Russia, which have already caused enormous damage.
In her speech, the president of the European Commission announced the allocation of 100 million euros for the reconstruction of bombed schools in Ukraine and announced a visit to Kyiv on Thursday.
