Zelensky Dismisses Ambassador to Switzerland
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed Artem Rybchenko from the post of ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein part-time.
The corresponding decree has been published on the website of the President of Ukraine.
Artem Rybchenko worked in this position for over four years. He was appointed by Petro Poroshenko in June 2018.
Former Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova may become the new ambassador of Ukraine to Switzerland.
On August 3, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba signed an application to President Volodymyr Zelensky for the appointment of Venediktova as an ambassador of Ukraine to Switzerland.
Kuleba explained that the practice of political appointments to diplomatic posts has always "been, is, and will be in all countries, as an influx of fresh blood, fresh thoughts, and views is needed."
On July 19, the Verkhovna Rada voted to terminate Venediktova's powers as Prosecutor General.
