Zelenskyy Reveals Details of Cooperation with Israel Regarding Data on Iranian-Made Drones
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine began cooperating with Israel a few days ago with regard to the provision of data on Iranian-made drones.
He said that at a briefing with the president of Guinea-Bissau in Kyiv on 26 October, reports Interfax-Ukraine
Commenting on the news that Israel is transferring intelligence on Iranian-made drones, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is at the beginning of the path of cooperation with Israel.
"Everyone is confused about our [Ukrainian-Israeli - ed.] relations. However, recently they have become warmer. After a pause, we are seeing steps forward," Zelenskyy said.
Zelenskyy noted that cooperation with Israel regarding the provision of data on Iranian-made drones "began a few days ago".
"[Israeli - ed.] intelligence data confirms what our intelligence knew, that Russia has used over 400 Iranian-made drones against Ukraine," he said.
"We are at the beginning of our cooperation with Israel. And this is a positive move on the part of Israel. I am grateful for this," the president added.
At the same time, Zelenskyy said he is counting on great support from the Israeli side.
"Israel knows what war is. We believe that Israel should support Ukraine more. We have been waiting for this since 24 February. We see that the Israeli people support Ukrainians, but we need Israel’s political leadership [to do this as well - ed.]," he summarised.
Russia has recently been making extensive use of kamikaze drones to attack Ukraine, which experts have identified as Iranian-made Shahed-136s, although Russian forces use them under the name Geran. Tehran has repeatedly denied transferring drones to Russia. The White House considers Iran's denials to be untrue.
Dmytro Kuleba, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, has submitted for the President’s consideration a proposal to terminate diplomatic relations with Iran over Russia’s use of Iranian-made drones against Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure.
During his visit to Washington, Israeli President Isaac Herzog will present US President Joe Biden with intelligence proving that Russia has deployed Iranian-made kamikaze drones in Ukraine.
