The hub, which opened on September 1, is strategically located near the Polish city of Rzeszów, which hosts one of the closest airports to Ukraine. It offers a safe space for the patients arriving from Ukraine before they are flown out to receive treatment in a hospital in another European country. Sometimes special evacuation planes - which are provided by Norway twice a week - leave for one patient. So, recently a plane flew specially for a 3-month-old baby.
In the two and a half months since the opening, the number of patients transferred to Europe from Ukraine has increased by approximately 300 people. In early September, it was reported about 1,100 evacuated Ukrainian patients.
