Germany's Minister of Justice Arrives in Kyiv
German Minister of Justice Marco Buschmann arrived in Ukraine to pay a visit.
"We stand by Ukraine today, and we will continue to do so in the future," Spiegel quoted the Free Democratic Party politician after his arrival at the Kyiv railway station.
The programme of his visit includes negotiations with authorities and human rights defenders. The main focus is on the international prosecution of war crimes. Germany wants to assist in this matter.
In addition, plans for cooperation in the justice field should be discussed, with a view to Ukraine's EU accession.
According to the FDP politician, the investigations of Russian war crimes in the past few months since Russia's attack in February are important not only for Ukraine. During a visit to the United Nations in October, Buschmann had already emphasised: "Freedom and security in the world only have a future if the international community puts Russia in its place."
In late October, the Netherlands sent a forensic investigation team to Ukraine for the second time to assist the local authorities in investigating war crimes committed on its territory.
