Kuleba Calls on Berlin To Lift Ban on Leopard 2 for Ukraine
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba has called on Germany to demonstrate leadership and hand over Leopard 2 tanks, Patriot systems, and Marder BMPs to Ukraine.
Dmytro Kuleba, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has stated this during his online briefing.
Kuleba has expressed his gratitude to Germany for the decision to strengthen Ukraine's anti-aircraft defence and to transfer additional seven Gepards. He mentioned the video of its effectiveness against Russian missiles and said that he sent this video to his German colleague with words of gratitude.
At the same time, according to the Minister, Ukrainian diplomats continue to make efforts in negotiations with the German side regarding Leopard 2 tanks and the Patriot air defence system.
"The German side has already demonstrated leadership in the supply of IRIS-T anti-missile defence systems and other important weapons. We also count on the German leadership to hand over Patriot, Leopard 2, and Marder BMPs. Any taboos cannot exist in matters of helping Ukraine with weapons to protect all of Europe from Russian armed aggression," Kuleba said.
He has also once again called on partners to strengthen military assistance for Ukraine.
"It is especially critical today to help Ukraine defend itself against Russian missile attacks. There is no need to look for excuses and postpone crucial decisions. It is time to close the sky over Ukraine, to do it with the help of air defence systems, which should arrive in Ukraine in sufficient numbers," Kuleba said.
