The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, met with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, who arrived on a visit to Kyiv on January 19.

"I welcome the President of the European Council Charles Michel to Ukraine. Thank you for your constant and strong support! We are starting an important meeting," states Ukraine's President on his Telegram channel.

"Ukraine and the European Union have already achieved significant results in our historic rapprochement. We are working to achieve even more," the head of state added.

Michel planned to meet with the President, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, and members of parliament in Kyiv.

He also paid a visit to the Ukrainian servicemen in one of the rehabilitation centers in Kyiv.

In his recent speech in the European Parliament, Charles Michel stated that he was in favour of handing over tanks to Ukraine, including other necessary types of weapons.
