Erdoğan spoke with Zelenskyy

President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with Ukraine's President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

They discussed humanitarian and energy aid for Ukraine from Türkiye and the functioning of the grain corridor, as the office of the Turkish President reports.

"President Erdoğan stated that Türkiye is ready to take on the role of a facilitator and mediator for lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine," the published message reads.

Erdoğan also announced that they work on prisoner exchange and expressed his readiness to make a "diplomatic contribution to the acceleration of the process taking place at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant"

On January 16, Erdoğan spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in which he once again repeated his offer to mediate between Ukraine and Russia.

In addition, according to the Turkish side, Erdoğan and Putin discussed the "grain corridor" and ammonia supplies, as well as a project to send Russian grain to African countries after it was ground into flour in Türkiye.
