Germany Promises to Supply Ukraine with Leopard Tanks by End of March
Boris Pistorius, Federal Minister of Defence of Germany, has promised to supply Ukraine with German Leopard 2 tanks by the end of March.
As Tagesschau reports, Pistorius said on arrival during a visit to troops in Saxony-Anhalt that Kyiv would receive tanks by the "end of the first quarter [of the year]."
Asked if this was a timely step to strengthen Ukraine ahead of Russia's expected spring offensive, Pistorius said it was, as far as he knew, "a timely one."
Yesterday, on 25 January, it was reported that Germany may provide Ukraine with the first Leopard battle tanks in about three months.
At the same time, Wojciech Skurkiewicz, Polish Deputy Defense Minister, is convinced that Warsaw could transfer the promised Leopard tanks to Ukraine within a few weeks.
