Ukraine's Foreign Minister Reveals What They Plan to Discuss at Ukraine-EU Summit in Kyiv
The assessment of Ukraine's progress towards opening accession negotiations is expected to be the centerpiece topic of the Ukraine-EU summit in Kyiv.
"We get ready to present the results of the implementation of all seven requirements of the European Commission. We expect a positive assessment by the EU. We count on a great deal of progress in approaching the internal market of the European Union, cooperation in the energy sector... The centerpiece topic of our agenda should be the prospect of the earliest possible start of the EU accession negotiations when Ukraine meets all the seven requirements and receives a positive assessment," Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine's Foreign Minister announced at a briefing on Tuesday.
New EU sanctions against Russia will also be at the center of the discussion, in particular, against the Russian missile and drone industry and the nuclear sector.
They will also discuss the security situation, the implementation of the "peace formula" proposed by Ukraine, holding Russia accountable for crimes committed, and the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.
During the summit, they plan to sign industry documents and approve a joint statement based on the summit results.
