Erdoğan Offers Zelenskyy Mediation in Negotiations with Russia Again

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday following his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to the statement of the communications department of the Turkish president, Erdoğan offered Turkish help in mediating a peace deal between the countries. The Turkish president has previously repeatedly offered his role as a mediator.

The leaders also discussed the humanitarian and energy aid provided by Türkiye and the grain corridor.

Erdoğan said he could make a diplomatic contribution to speeding up the process of establishing a safe zone at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted they touched upon nuclear safety at the ZNPP, the exchange of prisoners of war under Turkish mediation, and the grain agreement development. Zelenskyy stated he was "glad to hear that Türkiye is ready to participate in the implementation of our."

Erdoğan also had a telephone conversation with Putin on Thursday.

Erdoğan's press office said the Turkish president had offered Putin to back up calls for peace and talks with a unilateral ceasefire announcement and a "vision of a just solution".

Putin in his turn stated that Ukraine must accept the loss of territories for dialogue.
