Zelenskyy Will Open This Year's Munich Security Conference

Friday, 17 February 2023

A speech by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will be the first event within the framework of the Munich Security Conference.

As European Pravda’s Munich correspondent, referring to the President's Office, reports, the half-hour panel with the participation of the President of Ukraine, who will join the event via video link, will take place immediately after the welcome address by Christoph Heusgen, Chairman of the Munich Security Conference.

The event, under the name "David on the Dnipro: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom", was included in the conference programme, using an allusion to the biblical legend about David, who defeated the stronger Goliath. Details about the public programme's panellists are currently unknown, though the president's speech is being discussed in Munich.

Serhii Nykyforov, President Zelenskyy’s press secretary, confirmed to European Pravda that the president's speech at the opening of the conference is indeed planned.

This year's Munich Security Conference will largely be devoted to Ukraine, its victory in the war with the Russian Federation, and the issue of the future world order.

You can follow the events of the next three days in Munich on the European Pravda website.

The chairman of the Munich Security Conference advocated the de-Putinisation of Russia. [De-Putinisation is the process of reforming from an authoritarian rule to a liberal democracy – ed.] He also publicly opposes any restrictions on providing military assistance to Ukraine.
