Poland Handed over First Leopard Tanks to Ukraine
Polish President Andrzej Duda has announced that Polish Leopard tanks were handed over to the Ukrainian armed forces.
As TVN24 reports, at the meeting of the National Security Council, Duda said that Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki had arrived in Kyiv in connection with this event.
"These are the first tanks that will arrive in Ukraine as part of coalition tank aid, which we initiated from the very beginning," the Polish president said.
Following the meeting with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv, Mateusz Morawiecki has confirmed Poland's delivery of the first four Leopard tanks to Ukraine.
Poland promised to deliver 14 Leopard tanks to Ukraine, Duda did not say how many of them were sent this time.
The day before, Morawiecki said that his country would be the first or one of the first to deliver Leopard tanks to Ukraine (Ukr).
Previously, Polish President Andrzej Duda stated that Leopard 2 tanks and 60 other modernised T-72 tanks, which Poland plans to send, could be in Ukraine within a month or two (Ukr).
As reported, 105 Ukrainian soldiers arrived in Poland (Ukr) to master Leopard 2 tanks.
Poland is one of the most active supporters of Ukraine and pushed European countries to provide Leopard 1 and 2 tanks.
