US Introduce Sanctions against Skabeeva, Pasechnik, Russian Ministers and Governours
As part of the sanctions package, marking one year of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the US State Department has announced visa and financial restrictions against some Russian individuals and legal entities.
The sanctions list includes a leader, official, senior executive officer, or member of the board of directors of the Government of the Russian Federation (in particular, Minister of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov and Minister of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev).
Restrictions were introduced, among other things, against propagandist Olga Skabeeva, leader of the terrorist organisation "LNR" Leonid Pasechnik, the battalion of fighters "Sparta" and the father of its deceased founder Vladimir Zhoga, who was personally received by Vladimir Putin in May 2022.
Financial sanctions have been imposed on companies working in Russia's defence sector, as well as helping it circumvent sanctions.
In addition, the State Department has announced visa restrictions for 1,219 Russian military personnel, including officers, for actions that threaten or violate the sovereignty, territorial integrity, or political independence of Ukraine.
On Friday the United States announced the new sanctions against Russia (Ukr) on the anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Sanctions have been imposed against more than 200 individuals and entities, including both Russian and third countries in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, who support Russia's military efforts.
In addition, US President Joe Biden on Friday signed a decree to impose tariffs of 200% on aluminum imports from Russia, which is the world's second largest producer of this metal.
