Ukraine's Foreign Minister Does Not Expect Supply of Fighter Jets to Ukraine in near Future

Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba does not expect Ukraine to receive fighter jets soon.

"I don't expect the supply of the fighter jets to take place in the near future as it is a very difficult task from a logistical and technical point of view," Kuleba said in an interview with Bild am Sonntag.

That is why, as he states, the Ukrainian side suggests starting to train Ukrainian pilots on Western aircraft.

"So that when the decision is made to provide the aircraft, we don't spend time and many months preparing," the minister said.

In February, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius ruled out the supply of German fighter jets to Ukraine but said that this issue could be discussed in a few months. Friedrich Merz, the leader of the largest opposition faction, the Christian Democratic Union, also believes it is possible that Germany will supply Ukraine with fighter jets.

Among Western fighter jets, Ukraine is known to be most interested in the F-16.
