Russia Summons Ambassadors of the US, UK, and Canada for "Interference in Internal Affairs"

Tuesday, 18 April 2023

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia has summoned the ambassadors of the United States, UK, and Canada.

According to TASS, citing a comment by the Russian Foreign Ministry, the ambassadors of the three Western countries have been summoned "for interference in Russia's internal affairs and activities that do not correspond to diplomatic status."

As of now, there is no information about this on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry. Meanwhile, CNN has published a photo of US Ambassador Lynne Tracy entering the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The summoning of the ambassadors is apparently related to their reaction to the Kremlin critic Vladimir Kara-Murza's verdict (Ukr), who was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

The spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry called this "direct interference in internal affairs."

As reported, on Monday, the US ambassador was allowed to visit an arrested American journalist (Ukr) for the first time, whom Moscow accuses of espionage.
