US and UK Ambassadors Reacted to New Russian Missile Strikes on Ukrainian Cities
The US and UK ambassadors reacted to the Russian missile attacks on Ukrainian cities on the night of April 28, killing at least 14 people.
British Ambassador Melinda Simmons wrote a short tweet about the "joys of dawn air raids" around 5 a.m. and, later in the afternoon, responded to the aftermath of the nighttime attacks.
"I have friends in Uman who had to run from their apartment. It shouldn't make last night's Russian air strikes feel worse than others but knowing people who are affected, inevitably, it does. That justice will come for these attacks is poor comfort right now, but I hold on to it," the ambassador wrote.

"More lives tragically lost as Russia's missiles hit another apartment building. Russia still hasn't learned that its brutality only reinforces Ukrainian resolve and deepens our commitment to support Ukraine in the fight," reacted US Ambassador Bridget Brink.

On the night of 28 April, Russia launched a massive missile attack on Ukrainian cities: civilian buildings in Uman, Ukrainka and Dnipro were hit, resulting in the deaths of at least 14 people. Three more people were killed in Kherson and Kharkiv oblasts. A bridge was destroyed in Chernihiv Oblast.
A young woman and a 3-year-old child were killed overnight in a Russian attack in Dnipro.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for strengthening global sanctions against Russia after the night of the Russian attack.
The head of the Foreign Ministry, Dmytro Kuleba, called these Russian missile strikes another proof of the need to arm Ukraine with F-16s.
