Czech Foreign Minister Argued with MP over "Civil War" in Ukraine
Jiří Kobza, a MP of the Czech right-wing populist party "Freedom and Direct Democracy," stated that a civil war is ongoing in Ukraine. His words were immediately refuted by the head of Czech diplomacy, Jan Lipavský.
"There is a civil war going on in Ukraine at the moment," Kobza said.
The reaction to his words from the head of Czech diplomacy did not take long. "There is no civil war in Ukraine. It is an absolute lie," he said at a talk show on CNN Prima News.
But Kobza continued to insist: "The civil war is still going on, regardless of whether there are Russians there or not. In addition to this, there is another war, the Russian-Ukrainian war. But the civil war is the worst form of war that can exist."
"This is Russian imperial aggression from the very beginning. They created fake states. You're buying into Russian narratives, and that's sad," Lipavský countered.
The show also discussed the possibility of Ukraine joining the European Union. Regarding the process of accession itself, Lipavský said that it could start as early as this year if all Union states could be persuaded. Former diplomat Kobza said that, in his party's opinion, Ukraine should not join the EU.
During his visit to Ukraine, Czech President Peter Pavel left a message for the Russians (Ukr) on military equipment, calling on them to leave Ukraine.
