French Ambassador to Ukraine Visited Site of Tragedy in Uman Where Russian Missile Killed 23 People
The French Ambassador to Ukraine, Etienne de Poncins, went to Uman to honour the memory of the Ukrainian civilians who died in a residential building as a result of a missile strike by Russia on April 28.
"On April 28 at 4:07 am, a Russian missile hit a residential building in Uman. 23 people, including 6 children who were sleeping, died," wrote Etienne de Poncins on his official Twitter, adding a photo and video commentary.
"I have come here to express my condolences to the city mayor, Mrs. Pletniova, and all the residents of the city. I have also come to remind everyone that missile strikes on civilian buildings are a war crime. Our Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna has repeatedly emphasised this, and I will remind it again," the ambassador said.

In addition to the 23 deaths in Uman, a woman and a three-year-old child were killed in Dnipro as a result of Russian shelling on April 28. Also, one child was wounded and several apartments damaged when Russian missile debris fell on a residential building in Ukrainka, Kyiv Oblast.
After the overnight attack by Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy demanded strengthening global sanctions against Russia.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, called these missile strikes by Russia another reason to arm Ukraine with F-16s.
