Kuleba on Opening Negotiations with EU: "We Are Keeping Up with Schedule"
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, believes that Ukraine is "keeping up with the schedule" for starting the process of EU accession negotiations by the end of the year.
In an interview with "Suspilne," the Minister stated that Ukraine is currently on track to swiftly enter the phase of membership negotiations instead of a lengthy process.
"We are moving at a normal, so-called cruising speed towards that goal. If no force majeure occurs, everything will be fine," he said.
When asked specifically if Ukraine is on track to start accession negotiations by the end of the year, Kuleba responded affirmatively.
"We are on track, but, as I said, if nothing bad happens, we will successfully complete this path," the minister added.
On Thursday, the European Commission presented an oral assessment of Ukraine's progress on the path to the EU. The European Commission believes that Ukraine has fully met two out of seven conditions necessary to start accession negotiations, with progress made on the remaining conditions.
As mentioned by "European Pravda," the European Commission's report on Ukraine is generally positive and aims to assist Kyiv in addressing several issues. Although there are multiple challenges, which Brussels does not consider insurmountable.
