Pentagon on Strikes on Chonhar Bridge: This Is Ukraine's Fight, It's Their Planning
The Pentagon has commented on the strikes on the Chonhar Bridge located on the administrative border between Ukraine’s Kherson Oblast and Crimea, which occurred earlier.
Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said during a briefing that Ukraine plans and runs military operations independently, while the United States, together with its allies, provides it with the necessary assets to defend itself against Russian aggression.
"They [Ukrainians – ed.] are planning and executing that fight. Our focus is on working with them and our allies and our partners to ensure that they have the combat capabilities they need to defend their country and take back sovereign territory," said Ryder.
On 22 June, the Chonhar Bridge was struck. Representatives of the Russian-appointed "local authorities" claimed that "preliminary reports indicated that UK-made Storm Shadow missiles were used".
