The European Union has pledged to continue to work with other countries to ensure the widest possible international support for the key principles and objectives of the Ukrainian Peace Formula.

According to the text of the EU summit decision, the European Union and its member states pledged to intensify their diplomatic efforts and continue to cooperate with Ukraine and other countries "to ensure the widest possible international support for the key principles and objectives of Ukraine’s Peace Formula, including through an upcoming Global Peace Summit".

Any initiative aimed at achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine must be based on full respect for its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders, as stated in the decision.

In May, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy suggested holding a global peace summit with the participation of as many states as possible to secure their support for Ukraine's Peace Formula.

Last weekend, political and national security advisers from a dozen countries, including the three BRICS members and the United States, met in Copenhagen to discuss key principles for achieving peace in Ukraine.

Following a meeting in Copenhagen on Saturday, the EU suggested that a peace summit on Ukraine could be held by the end of the year.
