NATO Secretary General on Counteroffensive: Don't Forget That War Started Back in 2014
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg believes that predicting the course of a counteroffensive is impossible due to the "nature of war."
Answering the question, the Secretary-General advised against making predictions regarding the course of the counteroffensive, as this is not possible.
"Wars are, by nature, unpredictable. Wars tend to last longer than we expect," he said during a discussion at an expert forum on the sidelines of the NATO summit, where a European Pravda reporter is participating.
The Secretary General of NATO separately emphasised that it is incorrect to count the war from 24 February 2022. "The war [Russia against Ukraine] actually started in 2014, and what we saw in February last year was the full-fledged invasion," he emphasised.
Stoltenberg also reminded that Russia chose the option of waging a war of attrition, which further complicates hostilities, but assured that Ukraine will receive defence support from the Alliance states.
As European Pravda has previously reported, the summit in Vilnius continues with unprecedented street support for Ukraine, both from the authorities and ordinary citizens.
