Leopard Tanks for Ukraine to Be Repaired in Germany and Lithuania Instead of Poland
According to the media, instead of Poland, the Leopard tanks for Ukraine will be repaired in Germany and Lithuania.
Following the German government's decision to not open a Leopard tank repair center in Poland for tanks transferred to Ukraine, it became known that Western armorued vehicles could be repaired in other countries.
According to the N-tv channel, citing an unnamed representative of the German Defence Ministry, Leopard 2A5 and Leopard 2A6 tanks will be repaired in Germany and possibly also in Lithuania.
At the same time, the German authority added that Poland and Germany continue to work on the idea of repairing Leopard 2 tanks. "They want to coordinate this work together," a ministry representative noted.
Earlier, the media reported that the German government declined to open a Leopard tank maintenance center in Poland for tanks transferred to Ukraine due to the inflated price expectations of the Polish side.
Previously, Spiegel stated that Berlin and Warsaw failed to agree on opening a maintenance center in Poland to repair Leopard tanks supplied to Ukraine due to several reasons, while several tanks are already awaiting repairs.
German tank manufacturers consider the disputes surrounding the tank hub to be politically motivated.
