Thin and Extremely Exhausted Saakashvili Appeared in Court for First Time in Several Months
Imprisoned former President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, has participated in a court hearing for the first time since February, and he appears extremely exhausted.
Several media outlets, including "Echo of the Caucasus," published his photos from the courtroom.
Mikheil Saakashvili, the former President of Georgia and a citizen of Ukraine, currently in the Vivamed clinic, has attended the hearing online for the first time since February and showcased his condition.
Saakashvili responded to the Speaker of Parliament, who demanded an apology from those who criticise the Georgian government for its treatment of Saakashvili.
"It is you who should apologise for bringing me to this state – in front of European Parliament members, my family, in front of me, in front of Ukraine and all Georgians," said Mikheil Saakashvili.
He also expressed the opinion that the disintegration of Russia is approaching, which opens up great opportunities for Georgia.
"We should be in good shape now because we have to reclaim Abkhazia – of course, through peaceful means, regain lost time, and no one will take away our future," Saakashvili was quoted by Interpressnews.
The Tbilisi City Court is considering a case related to the broken up protest on November 7, 2007. The hearing was previously postponed due to one of the judges retiring.
As known, Saakashvili has been in custody since his clandestine return to Georgia ahead of the 2021 local elections, and his health has deteriorated significantly recently.
In late February, the European Union officially protested against the Georgian government regarding Saakashvili after Hungary had this decision blocked, appealing to release Saakashvili from punishment for treatment in Poland.
