Ukraine's Foreign Minister: Talks with Russia Possible After Its Troops Leave Ukraine, But Not with Putin
Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs, has stated that Ukraine will be ready to engage in talks with Russia once its troops withdraw from Ukraine, but not with President Vladimir Putin.
"We can engage in negotiations with Russia after the withdrawal of their troops from our lands, but not with Putin. This goal can be achieved through a mix of war and diplomacy. Our generals are handling the first. Their task is to encourage the Russians to retreat and convince them that it's better to talk than to fight," said Dmytro Kuleba in an interview with Italian Corriere della Sera.
Kuleba further pointed out that negotiations with Putin are impossible because he has committed too many crimes.
"There are other diplomatic ways to conduct indirect affairs. But we understand that we will never see Putin and Zelenskyy at the same table," said Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs.
After the meeting in Saudi Arabia, Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said that Ukraine planned to hold two summits on the peace formula presented by Zelenskyy, one of which would involve Russia.
It was reported that in Jeddah, the parties reached an understanding that respect for Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as the supremacy of the UN Charter, should be the basis of any peace agreement.
