Romania Has Not Yet Found Any Debris from Russian Shahed Drones on Its Territory near Izmail
The Ministry of Defenсe of Romania has not confirmed any evidence of drone debris falling within the country, despite Russia's drone attack on Izmail's port infrastructure.
The Romanian Ministry of Defence stated that they received information from the authorities in the Ciatalchioi district, which borders Ukraine along the Danube River and is located opposite Izmail, about the possibility of drone elements falling on their territory during Russia's attack on the port of Izmail on the night of August 2.
A team of experts from the Romanian Air Force was dispatched to the location.
"At this time, no specific elements confirming these assumptions have been found," the statement said.
The Romanian Ministry of Defence added that there is no direct military threat to Romania in the context of recent events.
The drones used by Russia in these unlawful and unjustified attacks did not violate Romanian airspace at any moment. The Ministry of National Defence has heightened readiness measures, continuously monitors the situation on land, at sea, and in the airspace, in line with national and allied plans, and coordinates with NATO structures to strengthen defence along the entire eastern flank and deter any aggression.
Meanwhile, journalists from Antena 3 CNN visited the town of Plauru, located opposite Izmail. The local mayor stated that the Shahed drones targeted an area just 400 meters away, and local residents are openly fearful that the drones might have hit their homes. However, they are not currently planning to move to a safer place.
Earlier, the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, condemned the Russian airstrike in southern Odesa Oblast.
