WP: US Committed More than $66 Billion in Aid to Ukraine – More than to Any Other Country

The United States has allocated over $66 billion in total aid to Kyiv since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

According to the Washington Post, that's more than the US distributes in aid to any other country. That includes more than $43 billion in military aid, which represents 65.1% of US aid to Ukraine.

Washington provided $23.5 billion directly for weapons and equipment, $18 billion for other assistance (training, advising, logistics, and equipment), and $1.5 billion in grants and loans to other countries for purchasing weapons and equipment.

The US has provided about $20.5 billion in budget support for Ukraine. Over $2.6 billion for supporting internally displaced persons, refugees, and other vulnerable populations within and outside the country.

"Experts view the amount as a massive investment in a US ally not seen since at least World War II," writes The Washington Post.

The funding has eclipsed bilateral support for other US allies, including Israel ($8.5B), Jordan ($2.9B) and Egypt ($3.3B), some of the top recipients of US. support.

Earlier, it was reported that the United States might announce a new military aid package for Ukraine on the second Sunday of August.

Two weeks earlier, the US Department of Defense had announced another $400 million military assistance package to Ukraine.

The previous military assitance package to Ukraine, totaling $800 million, was announced by the United States on July 7. It included cluster munitions for the first time.
