Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy hopes to persuade his US counterpart, Joe Biden, to approve the decision to supply the Ukrainian army with long-range ATACMS systems in autumn 2023.

"I hope, and I will speak with President Biden. For me is very important his thoughts and his support. I think he can change this page and this war. Once he did it with the HIMARS [multiple rocket launcher – ed.]," Zelenskyy said in an interview with CNN.

The Ukrainian president noted that these were not his first talks with Biden on this topic.

"We are moving. I hope we will get it [the ATACMS missiles] in autumn. For us, it’s very important not to do the pause in this counteroffensive. And I need it very much," he added.

The Financial Times recently reported that President Biden is close to making a decision on transferring long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine.

Kyiv has long been asking the US for ATACMS missiles, allowing Ukraine to strike deeper into the Russian rear.

Earlier, the US media learned that a decision on ATACMS missiles for Ukraine may be made shortly, and they may be included in one of the next aid packages.
