EU Court Dismissed Four Appeals of Russian Oligarchs to Lift Sanctions
The EU Court has dismissed the appeals of four Russian oligarchs – Gennady Timchenko, Mikhail Gutseriev, Tigran Khudaverdyan, and Alexander Shulgin – to lift sanctions.
The Russian oligarchs tried to lift the sanctions imposed on them by the EU due to Russia's President Vladimir Putin's war against Ukraine.
"All other other cases related to EU sanctions (visa bans and asset freezes) against Russia and Belarus, including Timchenko, Shulgin, Khudaverdyan and Gutseriev, also were dismissed. It means that the EU legal grounds for sanctioning are solid," wrote Rikard Jozwiak, a Radio Liberty journalist, on Twitter.

Russian news agency TASS, citing a representative of the EU Court, also reported that the appeals against sanctions for Russian businessmen Dmitry Pumpyanskiy, Gennady Timchenko, Mikhail Gutseriev, and Tigran Khudaverdyan were dismissed. Shulgin is not mentioned in TASS's statement.
"Yes, the court dismissed all the lawsuits from Russian businessmen today," the court representative was quoted.
Previously, the EU Court had announced that it dismissed the appeal of Russian oligarch Dmitry Pumpyansky and his wife Galina Pumpyanskaya against EU sanctions.
"Although Mr Pumpyanskiy has not played a direct role in military offensive in Ukraine, he is involved in economic sectors which constitute a substantial source of revenue for the Government of the Russian Federation," the court stated.
Last year, for the first time, the yacht Axioma of Russian oligarch Dmitry Pumpyanskiy was auctioned in Gibraltar for $37.5 million.
