"Honorary Consul of Donetsk People's Republic" to Stand Trial in Czechia for Hate Speech against Ukraine
Nela Lisková, a supporter of Russia and former "honorary consul" of the so-called "Donetsk People’s Republic", will be tried in a Czech court for inciting hatred against Ukrainians and Ukraine.
As IDNES reported, the reason for the proceedings was Lisková’s tweet in June this year, where she accompanied a photo of Zelenskyy with the text: "I hope that everyone who supports this Nazi monster and his followers will be held accountable. Our task will be de-Ukrainization and denazification of Czechia."
After this gained publicity, law enforcement officers became interested in the issue.

On 25 October, the Czech police announced that the pre-trial investigation was completed and the conclusions were transferred to the district prosecutor of the Prague 4 district. Lisková will be punished for inciting hatred against a group of persons or restricting their rights and freedoms.
Nela Lisková, a supporter of ex-President Miloš Zeman and Russian President Vladimir Putin, in 2016-2017 headed the "representation" of the so-called "Donetsk People’s Republic" in Czechia, until it was banned by a court decision.
Czech fact checkers drew attention to her activities in social media several times.
In 2019, Lisková was fined CZK 50,000 at the behest of Olga Richterová, Vice-president of the Chamber of Deputies. Lisková claimed Richterová wanted to accept tens of thousands of migrants in Czechia, after which Richterová suffered a flurry of criticism on social media, including death threats. Richterová donated the CZK 50,000 she received as compensation to support fact-checking and media literacy projects.
Earlier, proceedings were opened against a teacher at a Prague school for justifying Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
