Reducing Support for Ukraine Will Be a Mistake, We Cannot Allow This – Italian PM
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stressed the importance of continuing to support Ukraine in the war unleashed by Russia.
As reported by ANSA, Meloni noted in her speech in the Senate that at the upcoming meeting of the European Council she intends to reiterate the support for the Ukrainian people.
"We must not make the mistake of weakening support for the Ukrainian cause," the Italian prime minister said.
According to Meloni, Italy looks "not only to the present but also to a future of peace, to a European future for Ukraine".
In early October, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni discussed the upcoming package of assistance and a bilateral agreement on security guarantees, as well as the upcoming Italian presidency in the Group of Seven.
Earlier this month, Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto announced preparations for the transfer of the eighth package of military assistance to Ukraine.
