NATO to Agree on Recommendations for Reforms Required for Ukraine's Accession
Ukraine's Allies in the North Atlantic Alliance will agree on recommendations for reforms that Ukraine needs to implement to become ready for NATO membership.
According to The Guardian, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg noted before a meeting of the North Atlantic Council that the allies are in agreement that Ukraine will become a NATO member in the future and recalled the assistance that member states are providing to Ukraine amid a full-scale war.
"At [the NATO-Ukraine] meeting, we will agree recommendations for Ukrainians … reforms, as we continue to support Kyiv on this path to NATO membership," the NATO secretary general stated.
In October, an updated reform plan for Ukraine's future accession to the Alliance was discussed at the NATO-Ukraine Council.
Following the October meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group, US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin announced the creation of several "capability coalitions" for Kyiv, including training for the Ukrainian Air Force.
