France to Allocate €200 Million to Support Ukrainian Army

The French government intends to allocate an additional €200 million to the fund for supporting Ukraine so that the Ukrainian army can continue purchasing French equipment.

"You voted in committee for an amendment that opens up an additional €200 million for the Ukraine Support Fund," said French Defence Minister Sébastien Lecornu in his speech to the National Assembly, quoted by FranceInfo.

Lecornu said that the extension is part of the financial bill scheduled for Wednesday's consideration, which includes adjustments to the current fiscal year's appropriations.

"It will also allow us to move into a new strategy for procuring new equipment for the Ukrainian army," Lecornu said, saying the war in Ukraine is "a conflict that we must not turn our backs on".

On Friday, the United States announced another military aid package to Ukraine worth US$125 million.

And the Netherlands promised 500 million euros to Ukraine for ammunition.
