Ukrainian Border Guards Receive Three Field Hospitals and 6 Medical Evacuation Vehicles from Netherlands
The Netherlands has donated three field hospitals and six medical evacuation vehicles for Ukrainian border guards.
As reported by Ukraine's State Border Guard Service, these are three modular Role 2 field hospitals on nine trucks and six trailers, as well as six Toyota Land Cruiser medical evacuation vehicles.
The aid was provided by the Dutch manufacturing company Hospitainer with the support of the Dutch government.
Hospital modules are adapted to the cold season, have more beds than previous versions and have new conditioners. Hospitals have a water supply system, including showers.
"A new and important element is a block for medical personnel. The improved mobile hospital can be used as a stabilisation point, which is extremely important in medical aid provision to preserve the golden hour of a patient's life," said Dmytro Laitan, the head of the hospital’s outpatient clinic belonging to the State Border Guard Service. [The golden hour is a concept in military medicine that entails that if medical care is provided within the first hour after being wounded, it will save the lives of 90% of injured soldiers – ed.].
In addition to this aid batch, the State Border Guard Service has received 18 Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles, 10 modular Role 1 field hospitals, five modular Role 2 field hospitals, five refrigerated cars, one dental module, and almost 90 cubic metres of medical consumables since July 2023.
Earlier in November, Ukraine received a military field hospital from Estonia and Iceland. In the summer, Spain handed over the field hospital.
