Latvian President confirms participation in Ukraine's Peace Summit in conversation with Zelenskyy

On Tuesday 7 May, Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs spoke by phone with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

During the conversation, Rinkēvičs reaffirmed his participation in the next Peace Summit next month in Switzerland.

The presidents of both countries also discussed defence cooperation.

Rinkēvičs expressed gratitude to Zelenskyy for congratulating Latvia on the anniversary of the restoration of its independence.

Polish President Andrzej Duda confirmed to Zelenskyy that he will attend the Peace Summit in Switzerland.

The Global Peace Summit will be held on 15-16 June in the Swiss city of Bürgenstock. Switzerland has invited over 160 countries and international organisations, but not Russia.

Viola Amherd, President of the Swiss Confederation, announced that the Pope has been invited to the Global Peace Summit.
