Erdoğan likely to meet with Putin in Kazakhstan

Türkiye has admitted that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin at the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation on 3-4 July in Kazakhstan.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that Erdogan would "likely" meet with Putin in Kazakhstan "in the next few days".

In a comment to AFP, the Turkish Foreign Ministry confirmed Erdoğan's possible meeting with Putin in Astana during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit, which will take place on 3-4 July.

Erdoğan and Putin last met in September 2023 in Sochi, Russia.

Fidan visited Russia in early June, where he attended the BRICS meeting and was received by Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Erdoğan was preparing to host Putin in Türkiye in February, but the Russian leader's visit was postponed.
