Zelenskyy meets with president of German Bundesrat in Kyiv
Manuela Schwesig, President of the German Bundesrat (Upper Chamber of the Parliament), has met with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, during her visit to Ukraine. They discussed the situation in the combat zone and Ukraine’s current needs.
Zelenskyy noted that he had told Manuela Schwesig about the situation in the combat zone and Ukraine’s urgent needs.
"We appreciate Germany's initiative to provide Ukraine with air defence systems. Our country needs more of them as soon as possible," Zelenskyy said on X (Twitter).

Zelenskyy added that he had expressed his gratitude to Schwesig for the aid already provided for Ukraine by Germany.
Manuela Schwesig started her visit back on Monday, 24 June. She said in comments for German media that this was an act of solidarity with Ukraine on behalf of the 16 states of Germany.
She also stated directly that Ukraine must win the war, and Russia cannot remain unpunished after such aggression.
It was reported on 24 June that Germany had sent over 40 lorries for Ukrainian border guards in the combat zone.
Earlier in May and June the heads of both chambers of the Polish Parliament visited Ukraine.
