Zelenskyy describes Ukraine's expectations from Republican administration in US
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, has stated that his government is ready to cooperate with any political force in the US, specifically the Republican Party in case it comes to power.
As reported by a correspondent of European Pravda, Zelenskyy noted during the meeting with Ukrainian journalists in the city of Kyiv that Kyiv would develop its relations with the US regardless of the results of the forthcoming presidential elections and a part of the Congress.
"As for [Donald] Trump’s, one of the presidential candidates, vision of the end of the war: I understand it in general. I think if Mr. Donald Trump becomes the president then we will work. I’m not afraid of that," he stressed.
Zelenskyy noted that there are different positions among the Republicans, including "more rightwing, radical ones".
"But I want to say: the majority in the Republican Party support Ukraine and the Ukrainian people," he summed up.
Separately Zelenskyy commented on the risk of losing the US assistance in case Trump is elected president, stating that the support for the €40 billion aid package for 2025, adopted at the NATO Summit, would not be reviewed.
Earlier, former US President Donald Trump boasted that he was capable of ending the war in Ukraine even before his inauguration in January.
Politico reports that Trump’s team is allegedly seriously considering the option of reaching an "agreement with the Kremlin" to end the Russian-Ukrainian war, which would mean Ukraine’s and Georgia’s refusal to join NATO and territorial concessions by Ukraine.
