Poland states its airspace was violated by "flying object" during morning Russian attack

The Polish army has reported about the violation of their country’s airspace during the Russian missile-drone attack against Ukraine on the morning of 26 August.

As reported by  RMF24, the operative command of the Armed Forces of Poland stated that during the morning Russian aerial attack on Ukrainian cities, an "aerial object" entered the Polish territory near the Ukrainian city of Chervonohrad, and that this object was a missile. The announcement was made at 13:00 Polish time.

General Maciej Klisz reported that it was likely about the drone which was still being searched on Polish territory.

He assumed that the drone might have fallen near the town of Tyszowice located on the Polish side, near the Ukrainian settlements of Chervonohrad and Sokol. The town is located about 30 km away from the Polish-Ukrainian border.

Poland deployed military aircraft again during a large-scale Russian attack on the morning of 26 August. This is a standard procedure after a Russian missile entered the Polish airspace near the village of Oserdów in the Lublin Voivodeship during a nighttime Russian attack on Ukraine on 24 March. The missile remained there for 39 seconds.

The Minister of Defence of Poland later stated that the Polish military would have downed a Russian missile, if there had been signs that it was headed towards a certain target in the Polish territory.

Last week, Romania detected the debris of another Shahed drone on its territory near the Danube River.

There were reports about disruptions in the power system of Moldova following a large-scale Russian attack on Ukraine.
