We would like for Poland to send its MiG jets to Ukraine – Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that he would like Poland to agree to give Ukraine its Soviet-issue fighter jets, such as MiG.
President Zelenskyy also explained during the Ukraine 2024: Independence press conference why Polish MiG jets would be useful for Ukraine.
"We really need your MiGs, because of their good avionics and because we wouldn’t need additional time to train our pilots [to operate them]," he said.
According to Zelenskyy, he discussed this issue both with Polish President Andrzej Duda and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, "but we don’t have a favourable decision so far".
In July, Donald Tusk, Poland’s Prime Minister, said that Poland might consider giving Ukraine additional Soviet-issued fighter jets if it can find a substitute for them in the Polish fleet, with the help of allies.
