Tuesday, 6 August 2024

Russia has declared a member of the Moldovan embassy in Russia persona non grata in response to Moldova’s decision to expel an employee of the Russian embassy in Chișinău.

As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia stated on 6 August, Alexandru Chetraru, Chargés d'Affaires ad Interim of Moldova, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia on 6 August. A protest was declared against him due to the "unfriendly steps of official Chișinău".

The diplomat was handed a document declaring one employee of the embassy of Moldova in Russia persona non grata.

Last week searchers were conducted in the building of the Moldovan Parliament and two individuals were detained in connection with a treason case.
