The Swedish government presented its 17th military aid package for Ukraine valued at 4.6 billion Swedish crowns (€401.6 million) on 9 September.

The new Swedish aid package contains camouflage equipment for the hardware delivered to Ukraine earlier, tracked armoured personnel carriers PBV 302, and portable anti-aircraft systems Robot System 70.

The package also contains a range of armour-piercing and small-calibre projectiles, recoilless rifles and anti-tank mines, grenade launchers with ammunition, protective equipment, helmets and winter uniform.

In addition to this, Sweden is supplying Ukraine with naval equipment valued at 500 million crowns (US$48 million), specifically six Combat Boat 90 vessels and equipment for them. The Swedish government also plans to allocate additional funds for drone supply to Ukraine.

Stockholm also provides for the procurement of spare parts for their JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets valued at 2.3 billion crowns (US$166 million), explaining it with possible delivery of these aircraft to Ukraine in the future, if such a decision is adopted.

About 700 million more crowns (US$507,000) will finance the funds and other multilateral initiatives in support for Ukraine, from the ammunition initiative to the International Fund for Ukraine, led by the UK.

"With the 17th assistance package, Sweden enters a new stage of military support for Ukraine with a bigger emphasis on production, not donation," the Swedish government stresses.

Sweden has supplied Ukraine with military aid valued at 48.1 billion crowns (US$3.5 billion), 25 billion of them in 2024 alone.

In May, Sweden planned to allocate military aid for Ukraine valued at 75 million crowns (US$5.4 million) within 2024-2026.
