Zelenskyy hints invitation of Russia to Peace Summit depends on implementation of Victory Plan

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia could participate in the Peace Summit as soon as the Victory Plan he offered is implemented.

As reported by Interfax-Ukraine, Zelenskyy asserted in his video to the parliamentary summit of the Crimean Platform in Riga that Russia's participation in the Peace Summit would be conceivable once the Ukrainian Victory Plan was executed.

The President emphasised that the plan includes "everything necessary" to deprive Russia of any choices it now relies on, except from a just peace.

"When and if the Victory Plan is fully implemented, Russia will attend the summit, the formula will be applied, and the effectiveness, goals, and principles of the UN Charter will be entirely restored," Zelenskyy said.

Earlier in October, Zelenskyy stated that preparations for the next Peace Summit will be completed by early November, but the summit date remains undetermined.

The President indicated that the announced Victory Plan was designed as a "bridge" to the next Peace Summit, with the goal of establishing the conditions for implementing the principles from the Peace Formula. 

In recent months, Ukrainian officials have repeatedly said that a Russian delegate should be invited to the upcoming Peace Summit.

Andrii Yermak, Head of the President's Office of Ukraine, stated that this action should not be taken as the start of negotiations with Russia, and advised against assuming that the second meeting would be definitive.
