Latvian volunteers collected about €200,000 of donations and purchased assistance for the Azov 12th Special Forces Brigade of Ukraine's National Guard, which will be sent in October.

As reported by LSM.lv, the assistance package for Azov, which was fundraised in Latvia, contained around 100 Latvian-made FPV drones, field rations, two SUVs, and nine large generators.

Organisation Support AZOV Latvia, which maintains close communication with the Ukrainian military, spearheaded the initiative.

"External support, particularly from Latvians, is quite beneficial. And the reason that we go there, is because, – besides the soldiers who are really driven by such things, – people feel like they are not alone in this fight and struggle," said Guntars Jansons, a representative of Support AZOV Latvia.

Volunteers said that they will continue to fundraise cash for the Azovites on the Ziedot.lv community's website until mid-October.

Last month, the Latvian Ministry of Defence stated that it will deliver combat reconnaissance tracked armoured vehicles to Ukraine, which the country had received from the United Kingdom.

It is rumoured that Latvia plans to provide Ukraine with hundreds of computers, as well as specialised apparel, binoculars, and other defence forces equipment.
